How to Write a Body Bag Tender Specification

Vague specifications – “body bags, heavy duty, black” – produce quotes that cannot be compared. A clear specification protects your institution and makes evaluation fair.

Tips

  • Use minimums, not exact figures, unless there is a technical reason – this widens competition.
  • Avoid brand names, or add “or equivalent”.
  • Separate items by size with individual quantities so prices can be compared.
  • Request prices ex VAT and incl. VAT and state the validity period.
  • Evaluate samples against the specification before award.
  • Follow the applicable procurement rules – PFMA/MFMA, Treasury instructions, preferential procurement and CSD registration requirements for public bodies.
